About
*an invitation to slow down*
I never thought I'd run. Not once, not ever.
Then a friend talked me to join a park run. Just five kilometres, she said. We'll go slow.
We did go slow. I didn't care. I was outside, moving, laughing between breaths, and something in me clicked.
One park run became a habit. A habit became a 10k. And not long ago - years after telling anyone who'd listen that running wasn't for me - I crossed the finish line of a half marathon.
I'm still not fast. Some days I show up ready to fly. Other days I don't want to go at all, and I go anyway, dragging my feet the whole way there. Either way, I still call it a win. The goal was never the pace. The goal was showing up.
Most people were chasing a split time, a personal best, a number on a watch. I was just glad to be outside.
Pace Please is for that other group. The ones who show up. The ones who go slow. The ones who finish, look at their time, shrug, and call it a good run anyway.
If that's you - welcome to the club.
